Review of Physiotherapy Outpatients - Rugby St Cross
25th February 2021

I was referred to the dept with neck pain. I found my 2 consultations with Julian Rakela really helpful and informative. I had been feeling very anxious about my condition but he helped me to realise that I can manage the pain and keep active into the future. It is really reassuring to know that I can refer myself back to the service if I have further problems

Suggested improvements
No suggestions - I was happy with the care received

Despite not being able to attend a physical appointment, Julian, my physiotherapist managed to determine what the problem was through careful attention to detail following questions asked and answered via a telephone appointment. I am impressed with how effective the exercises given to me have been, my symptoms have decreased. Julian was able to determine that symptoms were resulting from a back problem rather than from bursitis as originally thought. I feel confident that the exercises I have been advised to continue with will result in an ever increasing pain free return to normality physically.

Suggested improvements
Strangely not being able to meet physically has caused me to pay particular attention to my progress and therefore better able to describe how I now physically feel to my therapist, so I don't believe there is anything that you could have done better.

Considering I couldn’t meet in person the whole process over the phone was easy and very helpful for the pain I was in.

Suggested improvements
Nothing all was good.

The Consultation was undertaken by telephone due the restrictions of the pandemic. An appointment time was given and calls were on time as arranged. An in-depth assessment was undertaken initially within the limits of no personal contact or physical examination. Advise and exercises were clear and followed up with an email with further details. A step by step series of exercises were given as the condition improved. The Physiotherapist had a very approachable, professional manner. I think face to face contact is the best option but my care was managed very well considering the current situation.

Kelly was very professional and I felt she listened and understood what I was going through. She took her time to go through my challenge and now I feel much better.

Very happy with the help and advice I have recieved from the Julian at physio team at St Cross. I was in immense pain a few months ago. Although I was only able to be treated over the telephone due to Covid19, I am now back on my feet and able to enjoy a normal pain free life again.

Suggested improvements
Communication between the admin team snd physio. I had to cancel 1 appointment, I gave 7 days notice but admin didn't pass onto the therapist. Therefore an appointment was wasted that vould have been given to someone else.
